With brilliant brevity and visual imagination, the wit and ingenuity of a talented writer, Tomizza narrates their adventures and, with an almost epigrammatic flair for biting repartee, concludes the scene with a brusque antithesis. The honest tone of Ugo Vicic's adaptation makes it a warning to behave with humility. "Even fleas have a cough" is a saying used to describe those worthless people who dare to speak and make their voices heard, even if they're as imperceptible as, figuratively speaking, that of fleas. The show tells the story of Saltellina, an ambitious and capricious flea who loves singing. A spider, a mosquito, and a millipede will teach her a little lesson. "Even fleas have a cough": in his story, Tomizza starts from this figurative expression and brings it to life. He introduces us to Saltellina, a flea with a cough! And then the spider Weaver, the millipede Locomotor, and the mosquito Tzatzira who, like Saltellina... love opera! And above all, singing, singing like real singers!
