with the Serbian National Theatre Ballet

The Serbian National Theatre Ballet of Novi Sad will perform on October 28 at the Teatro La Contrada in Trieste with the two-part program “Good Vibrations,” a blend of technical virtuosity, overwhelming energy, and contemporary choreographic expression.

The historic Serbian National Theatre, the country's oldest theatrical institution, arrives in Trieste for the first time with its ballet company, recently entrusted to the artistic direction of Aja Jung, renowned director of the renowned Belgrade Dance Festival and the National Dance Foundation in Serbia. Under her leadership, the repertoire has been renewed: alongside the enhancement of major classical productions, space is given to creations by some of the most exciting contemporary artists, including Enrico Morelli, Jacopo Godani, Maša Kolar, Itzik Galili, and Annabelle Lopez Ochoa.

Trieste audiences will have the opportunity to experience two contemporary dance works. "The Dance of Shadows," by internationally renowned Italian choreographer Jacopo Godani, explores the idea of freedom through fluid, rigorous, and dynamic compositions constructed in real time. This will be followed by "Bolero," based on Maurice Ravel's famous score, in a powerful choreographic reinterpretation by Croatian artist Maša Kolar. This work pulsates with collective energy, building from a delicate beginning to an overwhelming explosion of shared rhythm and movement.

The Trieste performance inaugurates the Serbian National Theatre Ballet's international tour and represents a precious opportunity to introduce European audiences to its new performers, its renewed vitality, and a repertoire that intertwines 75-year artistic tradition with the most innovative choreographic research of the present.

The event was organized by the Consulate General of the Republic of Serbia in Trieste and the Union of Serbs in Italy, co-organized by the Municipality of Trieste, and realized with the support of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia, the City of Novi Sad and the Serbian Orthodox Community of Trieste.
