From Carlo Collodi's "The Story of a Puppet," Pinocchio returns to the stage, revisited and reinterpreted through the eyes of our time, curated by Raphael Bianco and the EgriBiancoDanza Company: a more intimate and intimate version, set to the sweet music of Domenico Scarlatti. As is well known, fate, or the will of a fairy, has brought to life a pine stump and transformed it into a stringless puppet. But is it a puppet longing to become a boy, or a wooden child kicking for his flesh? Like every child, Pinocchio embarks on a journey of mistakes and discoveries, of shadows—the puppet-like characters that hinder him and represent his desires—and of light: the Fairy, part witch, part mother, a stern educator and traveling companion, points to the light. Having embarked on the path and earned his flesh, Pinocchio can continue on alone and write his own story.
