Sarah and Hannah are two young sisters who find themselves caring for their needy sick mother after their father abandons her. To survive, the woman clings to memories of better times which materialize in her husband's truck and in Vicky, a sheep that the man had given her and which she now treats not as a head of livestock but as a pet. Sarah and Hannah are very different. One sensible and thoughtful, the other restless and independent. However, they experience the same oppression compared to the situation around them. Both dream of leaving the small town in the prairies that holds them prisoner. The family drama soon takes on a thriller tone, evolving into a succession of violent actions from which it is impossible to go back.
