Paideia in Greek means education, training, understood as the harmonious development of all human faculties—moral, aesthetic, and intellectual. What is its opposite? What does not form, what misleads? Propaganda. Propaganda is the opposite of paideia, its false double. Propaganda, unlike paideia, untrains thought. It does not liberate, but binds. Drawing inspiration from the interventionist propaganda posters of the First World War, PACE is a recital/concert for voice and original music that brings together the words of philosophers, politicians, and artists who, resisting the manipulative dynamics of war propaganda, stood against all belligerence. Arthur Ponsonby, Karl Liebneckt, George Orwell, Albert Einstein, Bertrand Russell, Pietro Calamandrei, Boris Vian, and other greats will educate us in peace, for the construction of a better world.
