Three-year project 23/25 - Approach to GO25

The Contrada has developed a strong activity of artistic research and residencies, in particular aimed at young artists under 35. In addition to the institutional residencies, Vettori (having won the 2018-2022 Residencies Call and the subsequent public notice for the three-year period 2022 - 2023 - 2024 organized by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture ), La Contrada organized an event in 2021 and 2022 exclusively aimed at artists under 35, in particular from the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region. Artist residencies are a valuable addition to short-term cultural exchanges, as they allow artists to develop a deeper understanding of the societies and cultures that host them.

At the same time they create opportunities to provide insights into the cultural background of each participating artist. Artist residencies typically offer accommodation, artist coaching, production support and/or presentation facilities. Linguaggi Umani is one of these opportunities for residencies called "springboard", as they are aimed at artists who still need time and space to define their projects and their artistic identity.

by Omar Giorgio Makhloufi

In this residence, together with Diana Dardi, Giacomo Tamburini and Didi Garbaccio Bogin , the actor and playwright continues his theatrical, dramaturgical and philosophical investigation on the need for faith in human existence, on the necessary spiritual and metaphysical yearning of contemporary Man towards a meaning, a reason for being. Man, pervaded by the stupor of the virtual and by toxic opinion-making, finds himself floundering, experiencing a profound void, a lack of encounter.

In the previous project, entitled "From Flesh and Bones" - inspired by the novel "San Manuel Bueno Martir" by Miguel De Unamuno - he had dealt with the search for Faith in a God, which starts from the Catholic tradition, but is realized in the encounter flesh and blood with each other, in the immanent, in the Christological compassion that every human being has within himself to understand himself beyond biological, ethnic and political ties.

In this second stage, the research shifts to the idea of eternity and what forever is, as well as to the role of the word as a founding action of community and meaning. The dramaturgy, moving from a high to a low register, mixing elements of pop culture with the terminology of philosophical speculation, develops in a musical and poetic key. It is a vocal and musical score, a rhapsodic flow of precise relationships of meaning and sound. A theatrical concept album.”
