Drawing on "The World of Toys" and, more generally, on Andersen's famous fairy tale "The Tin Soldier" in all its declinations, the project aims to use dance improvisation to fully develop the dreamy and mysterious aspects of childhood imagination, where inanimate objects—here, toys—come to life and tell fantastic stories. In the project, the true protagonist is the dancer, a symbol of music and dance, of the ephemeral nature of art, and of the foundations of our deepest selves, symbolized by fire. Another key aspect of the work will be the stage costumes: the research aims to combine costume design with movement, through a work that represents the character's entire inner world and also explores the concept of play and the fantasy of the world of toys, using unique materials. The unifying factor among the various elements will be music, which will unite the various performing languages into a single dreamy, creative, and imaginative dimension. The work's compass is provided by the gaze of children, meaning the artists will work with the idea of seeing things through children's eyes, capturing the dimension of children's play. More generally, the aim is to present a visual and poetic spectacle to children, transcending the clichés associated with common television and tablet products and offering an emotional rather than narrative experience. This justifies the title, Tin Heart, which is formed in the narrative at the end of a fire-related ritual, which burns away the inessential and leaves behind purity and permanence after the transformation.
